In the opening pages of Fallingwood's web site we have pictured a woodworker's bench. I received this bench a number of years ago from a close cousin of mine. As it turns out, the work bench was owned by my late Grandfather, Buchanan Houston Hill, for whom coincidentally I was named.
Each day when I enter the studio, I take great joy and inspiration from the fact that I am able to create works of art on my grandfather's work bench. The Bench teaches me through its history, its purpose, and its quality that things can last many lifetimes and age beautifully. At Fallingwood, I look to embed these qualities in each piece of art I produce.
My Grandfather never used his first name, Buchanan, but went by Houston, said like house-ton, rather than the city in the great state of Texas.
